Question regarding SD Bootloader

no. i simply retain the .cab files for each program then throw them on my sd card. so for example, im not near my computer and my pda failed for whatever reason, i can easily to a hard reset and restore all of my programs/configs/etc in a matter of minutes.

as for the software glitches, i think we should generate a list of software "quirks" here so maybe a dev could see or forward this information to the dev. so far, i have noticed:

- the "loading" windows flag in internet explorer just shows a scrolling "waiting" icon from windows vista, much like a slideshow. was this meant to be?

One guy said he put the a17 rom on his x51(it only works right with x51v) and was able to go back to a12.

You will be able to go back to A12. It wouldn't be that hard. I think when you run the Dell A12 updater, it puts the CRC and NB0 in the X:\Delll\##### directory of your hard drive. Then you can just drag those files onto your (FAT32) SD Card.

Ohh. I always install thinks from my PC. Hmmm.... Can active sync take a backup of my programs only + program registry values?

I flashed Football's ROM and it worked fine. Then I went back to A12 from Dell without any problems and used a Sprite backup that I made before the flash and had no problems. To get back to A12 I used Makuu's tutorial to change the IMG that unpacks to your HDD when you run the A12 updater to an NBO file. Can't get back to A06 so easily though as when you go to A12 your bootloader is changed and I'm not too sure about reverting the bootloader.

There is no known way to extract the x51v bootloader. You can change the aku 1 bootloader by upgrading to A12, but there isn't any downgrade utility. Also I would not recommand to play with the bootloader, it's sure too risky, and you could brick your device for good.

Cool. So I can restore my files with Sprite backup. Does that interfere with the operating system files when you restore that backup?

Makuu: are you saying that we shouldn't downrange? Or are you saying don't downrange to A06, but downrange to A12?

i think from what he is saying, you cant downgrade to a06 because of aku bootloader version issues....

Ohh ok. So you can downrange from any version of Windows Mobile (above a12) to a12.

The Axx rom are related to Dell rom not MS. From Dell website you can download wwe rom A04, 06 and 12. A04 and 06 are aku 1, A12 is aku 2. When you upgrade with A12, your bootloader will change to fit with the aku 2, and there is no way to downgrade to aku 1.

A18 is still in beta... Should be released soon...

Maybe he added a few more icons like file explorer or fixed any issues that have arisen.
Maybe, don't tell the mods.....maybe he took the WM6 SDK and made himself an WM6 Rom. I know crazy but possible, since anyone can download it off MSDN.
