Question regarding SD Bootloader

Is this built right into the Axim? I have been reading the posts about the SD Bootloader in the reflashing threads and I don't quite understand this part. Also, I have the Dell Axim x51v A06 vanilla (never upgraded). Can someone explain the file format for the .nbo? The tutorial in domme's thread has me confused (I am aware his thread is for x50 series only, so my question is what is the file format for the x51?).

Thanks.

I think the SD loader is built into the bootloader. If the bootloader is lost your axim is bricked for good. That's what I think anyway.

Yeah the bootloader isn't something we install it is already there. You can make a rom or backup rom and load it on an SD card and the loader installs it for you.
It makes a great way to save your axim if you can't get it to reload the rom by the computer, you can always make a rom from Dells upgrades and load it and save the day.

No, you must have an aku 2.3.1 bootloader. You must upgrade to A12.

Yes. Get the NB0 file, and the CRC file onto a FAT32 formatted SD card. Once that is done, press WIFI, POWER, then RESET. That'll bring you into the bootloader. Then when it finds the files, press action (center button on D-Pad). Tell me how you like it. This upgrade seems good to have. :). And when you finish, can you check on how much RAM+ROM you have? RAM it should be ~32, ROM, I have no clue.

I might do the upgrade. I am thinking.... I care mostly about speed, and RAM.

Thanks

PS: Make sure the NB0 file says DiAd_K_AximX51v_WM5_A17EN.nb0, and in notepad, the CRC file says CD648C3E. This is becuase there is a A17, and a R01 version. You want A17. R01 is the Russian version.....

The patched ROM only has the CF update. Yes, install those updates. You will need to import some registry keys to your device. So you will need PHM Registry Editor or something different.

Glad it is going well! Another ~5 minutes.
