My iPhone replaced my Dell Axim X51

I've finally made a tough decision - to stop using my Axim (X51v) and to use my iPhone to manage my appointments instead. Now I need to find a good home for this device.

Where does one go to sell their Axim at a good price? I don't want to use eBay or Craigs list. Anyone know the going rate for a 1-2 year old Axim in good condition with just a dock?

Try the classifieds here on aximsite. Use Ebay and Craig's list as a price reference.

I agree. No flash/java? No third-party support? I'll keep my x51v until I get a pocket pc phone (And switch from Verizon, probably to AT&T).

iPhone would be nice with third party support. I have a feeling that would solve the flash/java issue, and the missing A2DP problem as well.

Where is a windows mobile device with 8gbs of storage? Why are all the new devices a tiny micro-SD?

That's pretty nice but for me the the iphone couldn't replace my axim. It can't do GPS and it doesn't have A2DP support for connectivity to my car stereo or my motorola s9 for use in the gym. Call me a geek but I love what the axim can do. It doesn't always do it in the slickest or coolest fashion but it can do it. I like to keep my pda and phone separate anyway. I don't want to carry something big like the iphone or axim into some places.

Hey, I sold my Axim after buying an HTC smartphone. It doesn't do everything an Axim could, but it does everything I need it to, and in one device.

Plus, I sold my Axim and all the accessories on e-Bay for about $500. There really is no substitute to e-Bay, how come you don't want to use it?

Ehh iWish I could just drop the X51v for a phone but too bad the equally powerful ones are $900+.

Ehh I think I'll cop out and get the HTC Mogul, though I cringe at the though of going QVGA, I also happen to love EVDO Rev A. ;)

All right guys - I think most of us agree that the Axim is a better PDA solution (I certainly think so) but let's not beat up on him, OK? The iPhone is no Axim - but for some folks it's going to fill the bill nicely. Not everybody needs a full-fledged Pocket PC. Personally I would be nuts to put aside my X50 and cell phone for an iPhone - but I think it's silly to lampoon someone who does.

Having said all that ... Alligator, are you sure you want to set aside a machine as capable as an X51v for an iPhone? You really are going to lose a lot of capability in that switch. You may wind up missing that Axim.

-CB ;)

I'm with CB, give the guy a break - hes' not a traitor, sellout or any other immature name you can think of. I love my Ax too but I would also love to carry one thing so I can understand the move. The iPhone does a lot and has great appeal but it probably wouldn't be my choice... more likely one of the new HTC devices. I like being able to tweak and it looks like the iPhone isn't too friendly for tweaking. That being said, anyone that moves to the iPhone should stick around and give us their thougts on how they like it. I'm no Apple fanboy but anyone can hang around here if they choose, Axim or not. In fact, I'd like to see a seperate forum just for the iPhone to watch how it develops.
