opera mobile and HTTPS sites ?????

I've just loaded Opera Mobile (8.65) onto my X50v WM2003SE

I connect via GPRS on my nokia to the net.

I have no trouble loading

eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

http://wap.nationalrail.co.uk/

etc, but cannot seem to access any HTTPS sites. I need to do this to access my work files and e-mail.

There's little configuration to mess with, and I can't for the life of me figure it out.

Anyone else had/overcome this problem?????

some secure sites still require IE I think; I highly recommend you trying the Opera 8.65 Beta which was released after the 8.65 vers and has some good upgraded. It is free until Oct. 2007.

Thanks Purcy, It is the Beta I've got....
Are there any 'ini' files or other files I could adjust?
As I can hit most other sites imy problem must be around security or the browser having to 'appear like' IE 6 or higher.
anyway, it's a bummer.....

no adjustments that I am aware of, even on PC some sites just require IE. On my laptop I use Firefox 2 which has an IE emulator tab you install like a plug-in and you just click that on sites that require IE.......... and away you go. That would be a nice plug-in for Opera, maybe someday.

Good luck.

I don't know if this will help, and I am not using the latest version of Opera, but there is a option you can set to Identify your device as a Desktop computer.

Tap Menu > Tools > Settings > on the General tab you'll see "Identify As" and you can tap the down arrow to the right of the selection and choose "Desktop computer."

I am able to access HTTPS sites from my Pocket PC using Opera (and I've never used this option). But I have not tried every HTTPS site that I visit (like my bank).

Well that is very cool, I didn't know Opera had that option. I'll check it out on mine.

Thanks Julie, although I've tried all permutations of the configuration settings available.
I also found a reference on another forum to the fact that some sites don't like TLS1 security being set, but again that doesn't solve the problem.

Tonight I even resorted to editing the 3 ini files opera creates, but to no avail.

Anyway, thanks for the interest.....!!!!!
