Happy Tapping Keyboard Skin Problem

I'm sorry if I'm beating an old problem to death. I haven't been able to locate anything to help fix this problem. I decided to give the good old Happy Tapping Keyboard a try and have it installed no problem. However, the only layout I see is the ugly default key layout (skin) that is on the HTK website. Anyway, I have tried numerous times to apply different skins to the keyboard and have soft reset after setting the skins. I've even uninstalled HTK (numerous times) and re-installed it on my CF and SD cards just to rule out the possibility that maybe it just didn't want to work off the device storage. So right now I have it installed on my device again and would greatly appreciate any pointers that I'm missing.

For the record, I have an X50v and am running the WM5 A03 (aku 3.5.2) ROM. Thanks!! :)

Anybody? Even a random shot in the dark idea that I might try? At this point I'd say HTK is not going to last too much longer on my device. :-(
