If you want WM05, get an X51v. The only reason to install WM05 on the X50 was to get Dell to give you an X51, now that that's over you might as well use the WM05 disks as coasters (unless you're a massachist, then they're probably wonderful!) Every problem *I* saw on WM05/X50v was corrected in WM05 X51v, especially with the latest ROM, however, the X50v was physically not designed to run WM05, so it will act crappy, to say the least...

I successfully update my x50v to wm5 A02. It seem to be a bit slow but is still accepted. is nearly 5 day I'm using it, & I very happy to use it. really don't know why so many people said that the x50v with wm5 with run very slow. I don't feel that kind of slow.

Judging from the many threads on this site indicating issues with their X50V after a ROM upgrade to WM5 A02 consider yourself very fortunate. Most struggled with issues that could not be resolved and ultimately did another ROM upgrade going back to the original ROM for the X50V.

I had WM5 on my X50v and it was okay (rev 1 took some tweaking, rev 2 was fine). If people wanna test it, let them, it's fun. Sorry tho, I don't have the CD anymore.

WM5 on X50v does work just fine so long as you dont use onboard storage and install everything and move everything to a fast SD or CF card. This stops the compaction thread from coming into play because there is nothing to compact, therefore there are no issues.

But after a short period of time the compaction thread will kick in start causing battery drain, high cpu usage, slow downs, even WSOD's and then you'll be thinking WM5 is useless... but if you install everything and move temp folders and such to an SD or CF card then that doesn't happen, I have happily been using WM5 for many months with no problems and its all fully functional ;)
