When I try to watch Internet TV streams by Windows Media Player - it only shows a black screen (yes, the streams that are working - they do show on my desktop)...
What is wrong, how can I solve this black screen issue?
i'm using axim x51v
i dont know if my connection is too slow - i had the same speed always and it's pretty ok
the streams are mms:// and other windows video formats
i can hear the audio, but the screen is black

You may not have the proper video codecs then. I'd still give TCPMP a try. It's free...you have nothing to lose!

well i already use tcpmp... so do i edit the file associations? because wmp grabs the streams with windows video formats automatically
how do i edit the file associations so that tcpmp opens the mms:// and all the other windows media streams and formats?

Under Options, choose Settings. Then tap on Select Page and then choose File Associations. Make sure "Windows Media Video files" is checked. You can also save the URL and open it in TCPMP. Oh, and you may need to play with the Video options (i.e., Options - Video).
The problem is, there currently is no player that I'm aware of for PPC that will play Windows Media Video 9 Screen which is a specific Windows Media Codec for Windows Media Encoder Screen captures.
It produces extremely small files when the input is fixed screen with limited colour palette.
Quote:
Windows Media Video 9 Screen
The Windows Media Video 9 Screen codec is optimized for compressing sequential screenshots and highly static video that is captured from the computer display, which makes it ideal for delivering demos or demonstrating computer use for training. The codec takes advantage of the typical image simplicity and relative lack of motion to achieve a very high compression ratio.
During the encoding process, the codec automatically switches between lossy and lossless encoding modes, depending on the complexity of the video data. For complex data, the lossless mode preserves an exact copy of the data. For less complex data, the lossy mode discards some data to achieve a higher compression ratio. By automatically switching between these two modes, the codec maintains video quality while maximizing compression.
Overall, the Windows Media Video 9 Screen codec delivers better handling of bitmap images and screen motion, even on relatively modest CPUs. It is also up to 100 times more efficient than the commonly-used run length encoding.
If anybody finds a codec that will enable a PPC like a X50v or X51v to play Windows Media Video 9 Screen encoded video, let me know.
The latest version of TCPMP 0.72RC1 does not
Neither does CorePlayer 1.1.1 Build 1600
