I'm looking for a new "convergence device" that has a cf slot, wi-fi, and is a phone.
Does anyone know of any devices that fit the bill. I looked at some of the UMPC devices but they seem a bit large. Thanks in advance.
Compact flash is the hard bit... do you REALLY need it?

I would prefer it, but it is not necessary. I would like most to have external storage in the 4-8 GB range. Is there anything as powerful as the axim with these specs?
The storaga is tricky.., the Htc tytn is great for wifi & phone but can only get to 2gb of storage...
Htc omni hasn't launched yet but will be worth a look.. Also the new toshiba portege looks interesting as does the Xda flame.
Or you could buy an iphone :hide:

Most PDA phones have micro SD card slots. I have a 2 GB card in my HTC but 4 GB cards have now come out. Outside of using your PDA as a gaming device, I love my HTC and wouldn't go back.
SD or SDHC is a must for high storage capacity. VGA is top as well for me. CF is nice for my GPS but I can sacrifice that. I'll miss my 8GB CF and 16GB CF, but oh well.
Right now- I have phone + Axim x51v + cheap internet connection = JOY
Thanks everyone for your input you have been very helpful. I am seriously considering buying the HTC 8525. I have been told it is just a re-branded tytn is this true?
I don't get why huge devices like the O2 XDA Flame have mere microSD slots when they could probably accomodate both a CF AND a full-size SDHC slot. I just don't, unless they want us to pay more for less storage or something.
Anyway, good luck on finding a converged device with a CF slot. Hell, you'd probably have a hard enough time just trying to find one with a full-size SDHC slot instead of miniSD or microSD!
Thanks for the help everyone I purchased my HTC Tytn last night it should fit my needs perfectly. If anyone wants to purchase my Axim x50v let me know. It has no back cover (broken when I was switching batteries) but other than that it works perfectly, $140 is the price.
