Removing folders from \Application Data\volatile

I have an X50v with WM5 A02. I recently had an issue with Sprite Backup where backups were failing due to a bunch of folders and files located in the volatile folder. The names seem to include invalid characters.

I have been unable to remove the folders and files with File Explorer, Resco Explorer, or my desktop computer (AS).

Does anyone have any ideas how to clear the folder? Is a hard reset my only option?

BTW, I have changed my registry to use SD Card\Volatile.
