Yes, your data and settings are stored in Flash, not RAM. The upgrade listed is a RAM upgrade and not a flash upgrade so the fact that your settings were saved (as they should be) has nothing whatsoever to do with this.

Lets get this straight. RAM is where your programs run, flash is where data is stored. When you run down or remove your battery your RAM will power down and you will loose any unsaved data, just as you would if you unplugged a computer in the middle of a 5000 page essay. Anything you saved is safe.

This upgrade is to give you more RAM, i.e. more space in which to run programs and has nothing whatsoever to do with your settings being stored unless you are on a WM2003 or earlier device.

Is it really that difficult to work out the difference between Flash and RAM?

The only reason why anyone would want more RAM is for running multiple programs all at once. I know I currently run into memory constraints when running TextMaker and PlanMaker together. Couple that with a few other programs I want to run in the background, and well, let's just say it's not a pretty sight.

I would love to upgrade my RAM, but don't have the $$ for it. :(
