Nobody's pushing Pocket PCs anymore

It's bad enough that Dell has given up on Axim, but it seems that none of the major retailers is pushing any brand of PPC anymore. Take a look at the Sunday newspaper flyers for Best Buy, Office Depot, OfficeMax, Circuit City and CompUSA and see if you can find any PPC advertised.
You'll see Palm devices, Blackberries, and of course SmartPhones. But no Pocket PCs. All of those retailers used to sell Hewlett Packard iPaqs. If any still stock them, they sure don't push them. Even the HP mailers that come to my door don't show iPaqs.
It makes me worried that the whole PPC category is endangered, and maybe even the whole Windows Mobile franchise, if you project out a couple of years.

The demand the for those types of devices is much greater. I love my Ax, but I at times get tired of carrying 2 devices.

In a few years Windows mobile will run only on phones. and umpcs will be the size of an axim.
