Proxy settings taken from Sync!?

Ok -- I'm tired of this and need to finally ask for a solution.

Basically, every time I put my X51v into the cradle, my proxy server settings from IE7 on my desktop are transferred/synced to PocketIE on my Axim. This is somewhat annoying since I don't WANT to use the proxy server when I'm using my Axim. It is HIGHLY annoying because there is no good way to turn OFF the proxy server settings from the Axim without modifying the registry!

Note that the ONLY thing I have checked to "sync" with ActiveSync is my Calendar. Nothing else is checked. The fact that MS has decided to sync my desktop's proxy settings to my PDA is not the best decision I've seen lately.

So -- what is the solution to this? I'm looking for one of the following:

1. A way to tell ActiveSync to NOT send my desktop's proxy settings to my Axim ever time I cradle it.

2. A simple app or other configuration location to turn off proxy settings on my Axim when I don't want them without having to do it the way I currently do: which is to go into the registry with PHM RegEdit and remove the proxy settings.

Any help/suggestions? Thanks!

I don't know if it is possible to get it to stop changing based on your browser setting but there is an easier way to change the proxy. click on the connection at the top barclick on settings>Connections>modify Proxy and uncheck the box for the proxy but leave the box checked for This network connects to the Internet. Then ok your way out and it will be done. I wish too that there was an easier way to do this but I haven't found it yet either.

Actually, there is no "Modify Proxy" option under Connections. I found that it only shows up if you have dialup modem connections defined -- and I don't have any. And, even when I did, it did not seem to want to USE those changes for my wireless connection all the time. Those proxy settings seem somehow tied to dialup connections only. This seems supported by the fact that, as I said, the "modify proxy" option doesn't even show up if you don't have dialup connection(s) defined.

I have never had a dialup configured but the proxy happens when I connect at work where we use a proxy server. I assume that you must be doing something similar?
