X50v align screen issue - wont' start-up

Upon power up my X50v won't get past the "Tap the screen to set up your Pocket PC" screen. I've tried all buttons and pressed every inch of the screen with my stylus pen to no avail. I've performed a hard and soft reset several times. The unit is fully charged and I've tried it with and without any SD card installed.

When the unit powers on I can hear the normal chime, so it appears the speaker works. The only interaction I can get is when I press the center navigation button, the "Tap the screen to set up your..." screen turns into the "align screen...tap the target firmly..." At that point I've touched every area of the screen with my stylus pen but can't get any response.

I can see the contents of the Axim by looking at the folders in Active Sync on my home computer. All my programs and files appear, but I obviously can't go forward until I can get past the "align screen." I'm wondering if my touch screen is now dead? Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for the response, I should have stated that I've tried this as well, even moved the switch back and forth several times to ensure it's not malfunctioning
