Bluetooth - X51v to Plantronics 640
I just bought the Plantronics Discovery 640 headset, because I thought I could pair it with both my cell phone and with my Axim x51v. I want to use it to listen to audio from TCPMP, games, and music from the Axim (instead of through the Axim speaker).
I've done searches here, but I'm a little stumped. I had no luck with the default bluetooth stack (it would pair, but would not show any profiles). So, I installed the widcom stack, per the sticky thread. Now they pair with the headset profile, but it doesn't get audio.
It seems to be connected. The Axim says it has a good connection. And the Plantronics light flashes. But it only beeps with 2 pairs of 3 tones, over and over.
Can I make this work? Is there some step I'm missing? Or do I have to have the A2DP profile to do what I want to do?
I wanted the Plantronics 655, but my local store did not have it. Would it work any better?
Thanks for any help/advice.

Unfortunately for you, the headset you purchased does not support A2DP profile, which is needed to stream music to your headset. It will never work the way you want it to work.
You need to buy a stereo bt headset to make it work the way you are talking about.

I have a Motorola HS-850 headset and it works just fine with the Windcomm stack.

Sounds like the one I purchased may be going back. But what is the headset profile with the Axim good for? Can it be used for anything?

If you want to stream music from Axim to the headset, both Axim and the headset must support the A2DP profile. There are ways to make Axim support A2DP, but the headset has to be bought with this functionality.

I understand that part. What I'm asking is what can the headset (or is it called hands free) profile be used for? Can it be used for anything when paired with the Axim?
If the answer is no, then the headset I bought is of no use to me (it does work against my cell phone, but I already had one for that).

You can use it with Axim without any problems, but not for tistening to music, streaming music from the Axim to the headset. It can only be used for talking through e.g. skype.

Correction: I did get it to work with the Plantronics 640!
The beep, apparently, just tells you it is paired. While it is beeping, if I push the multifunction button, it will switch to receiving sound from the Axim. If I push again, the sound nows plays from the Axim speaker. Et cetera.
Now I feel stupid, but at least it's working. Figured I was probably missing a step...
