ActiveSync quit working a few days ago for my X51v. I receive the "cannot connect" message when using either the cradle or my USB cable. The battery charges and the indicator lamp goes to green with both the cradle or the cable. I have a Toshiba E750 and it syncs with no problem. In searching the forums, I find that the likely culprit is the connector and it needs to be repaired if I want to continue using the cable or the cradle. Otherwise, I may have to buy a Bluetooth adapter for my PC and sync via Bluetooth.
Any other ideas?
The first thing I would try is a soft reset and a reboot of the computer. Then if that does not resolve the issue, try deleting the existing AS partnership and create a new partnership.

I have tried the soft reset on the Axim along with the reboot of my PC. That gives the same failure. Also, when I try to sync with my laptop, I get the same failure. My last resort before looking at a repair is hard reset.
Any other suggestions before I do that?
I had the same problem. Do you use the Windows Firewall? Go to the Control Panel and check the Firewall settings. You can use it but DON'T have the "Don't allow exceptions" checked. IOW allow exceptions. If you look on the exceptions tab you will see ActiveSync at the top (at least on mine) and they should all be checked. Hope this helps as this issue was driving me crazy
Also, did you try removing and recreating your ActiveSync partnership. I fiddle around with my pocket pc so much and my AS partnership gets messed up quite a lot. So far (knock on wood), removing and recreating the partnership has always set things right for me.

I had the same problem where ActiveSync suddenly stopped working. I used this reset solution and was able to sync.
1. Press and hold the .
2. With the stylus, press and hold the Reset Button (on the bvack) for 2-5 seconds.
3. The message "To restore factory settings, press the Contacts Button (1st button left of the 5-way navigator) . To cancel this operation, press the E-Mail Button (1st button right of the 5-way navigator)." appears.
4. Press the E-Mail Button (1st button right of the 5-way navigator) to cancel the hard reset.
5. Check that Date and Time are set correctly.
6. Device should Synchronize normally via USB.
That worked for a while, but the reset had to be done every couple of days. After a few months of like that, it reached a point where I had to reset every time I wanted to sync. I decided to do the full hard reset and reloaded all my programs and data and that solved the problem.
I had this same problem, it was working perfectly then it stoped syncing. I tried what Julie and ravdichuk said but unfortunately it did 'nt work. I had to uninstall it completely and reinstall. now it works but says "attention required" because the appointments failed to sync. No big deal, at least it works now.

There could be some corruption in the database that is provoking this message. You might try running Outlook's SCANPST utility on your Outlook database.
To run SCANPST, you'll need to find the utility program first and then locate where your Outlook.PST file is. You can search for these items - on my PC:
SCANPST.exe is in the \Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033 subdirectory and Outlook.pst file is in C:\Documents and Settings\Julie\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst
If you search for these files, be sure you use the advanced search features and select the options to search hidden files and system files.
When you locate your Outlook.PST file, write down the full path to this file. Then close Outlook. Select SCANPST.exe. This will bring up a dialogue box. Input the entire path and pst file name in the dialogue box. Press the Start button.
You may need to run SCANPST a few times to allow the utility to work through all the issues in your PST file.

Thanks to all who offered suggestions. I had tried most of them, but to no avial. My solution was to do a hard reset and restore from a backup from when ActiveSync was working. Things are now working fine. If the problem occurs again, I'll try some of the suggestions proposed. Something may have been corrupted on the Axim, but now "all is well" (Kevin Bacon in Animal House).
I had this same problem, my PC support guys at work found the problem for me, On the X51v open Activesync tap MENU then CONNECTIONS. that screen shows Connections When Cradled with a tick box next to "Synchronize all PCs using this connection:" there is a dropdown box underneath where mine has only 'USB This was on mine unticked somehow, as soon as we ticked that option activesync started working again on both my Home PC and my Work PC. Hope this helps you if this happens again in the future.
HELP PLEASE, Sorry about this, having successfully replied to this post as my first entry on AXIMSITE, I decided to post a new problem, BUT, BIG BUT, How do I enter a new post? I cannot find a link anywhere that allows me to create a new post. I want to create a message about Activesync continually starting the sync wizard on both my home and work PC's, EVERYTIME I connect it to either PC.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Go to the forum where you wish to create a new thread. At the top lefthand side of the page you'll see a "New Thread" button. Select this button and start typing.
