Can't Get ActiveSync to work with Dell Axim X51v and IOGEAR GBU221 USB Bluetooth

I have Windows XP Pro SP2 and I tried to install my IOGEAR GBU221 usb Bluetooth dongle with Microsoft drivers but none were available. So I had to install the IOGEAR drivers and software and yes I have the latest.

When I setup my com ports so I can ActiceSync to my Dell Axim it wont let me add or find the ActiveSync service. I can send files from my computer and right clicking and send files to my Axim but I can not get ActiveSnyc to work.

I have read I need the Microsoft Bluetooth Bundle but I can't find it or get it to work for my Bluetooth Adapter.

.

On my Dell Axim when I try to ActiveSync via Bluetooth I get this error message

Cannot find an existing Bluetooth parntership with a PC that supports ActiveSync. Would you like to set ip a parnternship now.

I click yes. I find my Desktop PC and the only options I get are Serial Port and Wireless Stereo.

I got this same Pocket PC and bluetooth dongle to work correctly in Windows Vista using Vista drivers and there was a menu for ActiveSync there.

Can someone give me some ideas or help me with getting ActiveSync to work

When you try to do a BT activesync & you ge the message "Cannot find an existing Bluetooth partnership with a PC that supports ActiveSync. Would you like to set up a partnership now". It brings you to the partnership screen & select your computer. This then leads you to the screen where you see the serial port & wireless stero options.

One of the problems that I was having was that the transcriber was in the way. It was not allowing me to see the refresh button. Once I minimized the transcriber & hit the refresh button activesync did appear.

I had to go through this process a few time before activesync would appear though.

Hope this help.

I believe that I am using the same BT dongle as you. I am using the MS BT stack.

The transcriber is the program, which lets you input your data. I will activate anytime you need to input data or open a program that you would use to input data such the calendar or contacts. You will know that it is active because will see a small keyboard symbol on the task bar at the bottom of the display. You can maximize or minimize it by tapping the symbol once.

u mean the little keyboard thing? It was minimized and I still dont see ActiveSync. Are you using XP? Because it works in Vista for me but I need it to work for XP. Also did you mess with any of the com port settings?

Any other ideas?

I am using XP & I changed the comm port in active sync from 3 to 4. I had it working last weeked then after a couple of days it quit working. I basically started the config process all over. That is when I changed the active sync comm port to 3. It took several tries for the active sync profile to show up on my axim.

If your are not using the Dell BT GPS then I would try using the Widcomm BT stack.
