ihave the x50v with 2003SE (german A02) and i'm curious testing the Offered WM5 A02 upDATE from Dell, but to do this, i'd need the german upGRADE to WM5 A00, which is not offered from dell.com, (as the english version upGRADE is).
So does anyone have the German ROM for Upgrading my 2003SE to 5.0?
btw. don't tell me it's not worth it because of any bugs... most bug's i've read concern GPS, Bletooth or some other thing i don't need and as for performance/speed ... it's relative, so i'd like to test it. (a german downgrade is ironically available...

well, first : i haven't found it on local ebay and second : i don't want to pay for this upgrade just only beause of my language or the localization of my pda(sounds stupid but is that way, because the WM5-upGRADE in English is available for free download everywhere, bu´t not the german one)., and as i just like to test my device, if it will or may be better with wm5 (and even if i may not downgrade again), it's not worth to buy as the device itself is expensive enought.
So where to get (download) the german WM5-Upgrade to A01 from WM2003.
Technically, while the upgrade MAY be available for download in places, Dell sold the upgrade. So if people have copied the ROM and made it available online, that would be piracy.
If it is piracy, it will not be discussed here.
We do not check into whether you are a licensed user or not, which is why WM5 on x50 can be discussed... but Aximsite doesn't permit warez.

sorry, i think you misunderstood my last sentences : meant, that the dell upgrade for X50v from 2003SE to WM5 is available FOR FREE at the DELL Support page, but only in english version (!). that's why i'm so 'mad' because dell support in germay sold the upgrades on CD instead (and they are now not available.) and so i think as 'equality for everyone', why should i pay for the upgrade when other language-people/regions are offered the upgrade for free?
so my question is to anyone, ´who has the german WM2003toWM5-upgrade to upload it for me, as dell support missed here something.
I know that I bought the CD... had it on pre-order for months. Fought with it for weeks and then went back to 2003se

To make it a little clearer... that's an update from WM5 to a more stable version of WM5. The update from 2003 to WM5 is not free as others have stated already. I believe it was around $50.
well, ok, then i'm goin' to look around ebay (some us stores are offering it very cheap (considered to current currency-values EUR-US$), but another question. : from PPC-Welt a german (legal) forum, i received an english WM5_A02-nb0 (WM50_K_A02_X50v_WM50_EN.nb0) with crc and a wm5-bootloader.nbo (DiMa_B_A02_X50v_WM50_A02EN_Bootloader.nb0) Aand also CRC). Can i put this on SD and perform a SD-Flash or am i going to brick my device? Or is there any other way installing an english WM5-Upgrade over my german WM2003SE?

From what I have read in xda-forums. There is a different bootloader from WM2003SE/WM5_A01 to WM5_A02. So if the SD loader method can work over different languages version (I think it should). I think you should do the following:
1. Change your WM2003SE German to WM2003SE English (SD Loader method).
2. Upgrade WM2003SE English to WM5_A01 English (Normal method)
3. Change WM5_A01 English to WM5_A02 ENGLISH (Normal method). Now you will have the new bootloader.
4. WM5_A02 English to WM5_A02 GERMAN (SD Loader Method).
Maybe you can avoid step 1 and go straight to WM5_A01 with the SD Loader method.But it might be safer going through step1.
Now your job is to find the different Upgades either on official Dell website or somewhere else...
That may work but I can't confirm and I don't know if that would brick your axim.

well, is there a way to change my WM2003 language to english so i can upgrade?
and if this works, can't i just 'hack' the language tag in the img (the hex-trick shown here around) from english wm5A02 to german WM5-A02, so i install the german upgrade, but tagged as english upgrade, so i can do this over english A00?
If this may work, just tell me, how to change my current language to english.
I am not sure if there is an English WM5_A00 I think the first one was A01. I might be wrong.
Long time ago I read at aximsite some threads about changing the language. I remember they talked about hex editing. But I think that was before the SD Loader method was discovered.
My idea is the language incompatibility is detected with the Dell utility while trying to upgrade. I think the SD Loader don't do such checks. But just try to confirm somewhere here.
I can't say I am 100% right.

is the Dell upgrde to English WM2003SE_A05. Try the SD Loader with that and you will have it in English. If that works I think step 4 will work too.
But just get some confirmation in other threads about the SD Loader method.
To convert your pocket pc from windows mobile 2003 to WM5.0 requires that you first have a validly licensed version of WM5.0. Performing this update any other way is illegal and not to be discussed on this forum....period. Dell did not give this upgrade away for free.
The original poster needs to get a valid, licensed copy of WM5.0 to upgrade the device. Any discussion about how to upgrade to WM5.0 any other way is not allowed on this forum.

well, i have an english Upgrade for wm2003se-to-wm5 (bought at ebay but turned out to be useless unless these upgrades are language-dependent.
btw @ juanpa74, all updates offered from dell are in *.img-format, and for flashing, i need a *.nb0-file and a crc, and t´he offered converting programs (here in the forums) don't really work for me. so i guess, i got to wait a bit.
