Wireless - I removed all the settings! {{ADVANCED}}
I know this is like 3d post regaring my wireless issues, but I think I narrowed down the problem, but I can't fix it.
A12 ROM legit here.
After a hard reset wireless works like it should.
By default when you go to Dell Utility then press the big Turn On button then you can press the big SETTINGS button. After you press SETTINGS you will have a list of available networks.
Thats whats it like by default. I, however, didn't know what I was doing and manually tapped each wireless network and selected REMOVE SETTINGS! After I removed all available network settings, wireless screwed up!
After this when I press the big SETTINGS button I no longer get the list of networks! I don't get an automatic detection and the white sign blinking in upper right/middle of the screen (start menu bar). All I get is a window that says CONFIGURE NETWORK and I can select INTERNET or WORK. Below that is a list of all available adapters!
Whether I select INTERNET or WORK and press OK makes no difference. There is no way to connect to a network unless after you press the big SETTINGS button you get a list of them! I no longer get this list but the menu I described.
How can I fix this? I can't hard reset anymore because I backed up toooooo much data that needs to be restored along with messed up wireless settings!
Removing the settings shouldn't stop the wireless from functioning but it will remove any networks that are out of range. If there are none in range, then the list will remain blank.
It also will not show any networks that are not broadcasting the SSID so if you have a home network and you are in range, check to make sure the router is set to broadcast the SSID and that it is working in the B range (this includes mixed B+G setting for G routers).
A soft reset of the Axim would be a good idea before making a new connection.
If you do not have a home router, you'll need to wait until you are in range of an open network before anything will show up in the list.

Well, I don't know whats going on. I am in range of about 10 networks at the moment BUT when I press SETTINGS I get a window where I have to select WORK or INTERNET and the window below shows available ADAPTERS.
Thats NOT the window I should be getting.
Soft-reset doesn't do anything... How do I get my window with connections back?!??!!?
Before I would turn on my Wireless and it would actually pop a window showing me which networks are available. Now it doesn't do it (even though I am in range for oh how many windows).
It DOES show networks under SITE in Dell Utility but there no option to connect to them...
You get the work/internet choice window by tapping on the Settings button when WiFi is not turned on. If it is on, then it probably still relates to the problem you mentioned in another thread and sounds to me like a hardware problem.
The only other possibility I can see is that some other software you've installed is causing the WiFi adapter failure, probably by overwriting some driver files. That would be a difficult issue to problem solve by anything less than a hard reset. Of course, after the reset, restoring a backup wold probably restore the problem and simply reinstalling all the software you are using would likely add back the problem, too, so you'd probably need to install one at a time until the problem resurfaced.

Maybe its the Colorado Fix? However, uninstalling it doesn't solve the problem...
And the window shows even up even when the WLAN is ON. It says ON but from it seems its not actually ON.
And also the Flight Mode is not working right. Sometimes its OFF and WLAN won't turn on (no flashing green lights) and sometimes its ON and same thing happens. It also goes for Vice Versa... maybe thats the roof of the problem but I have no clue how to make the Flight Mode work properly...

Hi.
Are you running Odyssey? In that case, disable Odyssey, disable WIFI (use hardware button twice), soft reset. Start WIFI with Dell Wlan button. Try to connect to an unsecured network. If everything is OK, start Odyssey, config, connect to secured network.
My experience from Odyssey, is that the 3 WIFI On/Off-options (Hardware-button, Dell Wlan button and Flight Mode) sometimes gets mixed up when using Odyssey.
Actually, Flight mode doesn't do anything different from the hardware button. When 'on' is simply turns off all the wireless adapters (WiFi and BT), when 'off,' it turns on the last wireless that was in use. It does not prevent the software nor hardware from turning on wireless (although you would think that it would but it never has on my X51v with any of the ROMs).
I installed what you call the 'Colorado fix' a long time ago and have never had any problem. I've never installed the Odyssey Client fix since I do not use the software so it's a possibility but I'm surprised that you seem to be the only one experiencing problems if it is the culprit.
