WM5 can be gotten from Dell. There are several threads on this site that describe the upgrade process and its results. Some here have liked the change and others did not want any thing to do with the change and went back to what they had prior to the upgrade. I suggest you do a 'search' on this site of WM5 upgrade and you should find lots of great information to help you make your decision. BTW welcome to the site its a great place to come for helpful information and tips. The people that visit here are also very willing to help with their experiences and knowledge.

Wm5 on x50 has not always had favourable results, depending on software installed. Try ebay for upgrade CD's as well

I read the first few posts and that is a real turn-off. I need a wm5 device now that my office upgraded to Office 2007 w/Outlook 2007. I thought about upgrading my x50v w/2003se for about 10 seconds. But instead I bought a wm5 device. My time is worth more than it costs to upgrade.

How was your experience Andy?

Its a personal decision. Many other X50 users have done the upgrade and went back due to response and just not liking the WM5. Others like it and have stayed with it. WM5 is one of the reasons I got my X51V and not a X50V (used at the time).

having done the original upgrade and downgrade again... I was convinced that ao2 wouldn't work any better... so I didn't upgrade.

however thud did a lot of leg work... testing.. and documented what he did.. and so I have to admit I was wrong. ao2 does work and very nicely too. you have to be a bit careful... but its easier for me to have two device on the same os.
