Question Very annoying crashes with X51v.

Most of the time when I remove my X51v (A12) from the cradle it switches itself on, if I try to do anything with it it then crashes by locking up. Later today I will be performing my third hard-reset in as many months. I havent got a clue what is causing this because after a hard-reset it works fine but after a few weeks of use the problem come's back. I am installing the same programs on it again after the reset although the last time I did that slowly over the space of a week a few programs at a time to try and isolate the problem. When it started acting up again I deleted the few more recently installed programs to see if it would behave normally again but that hasn't happened.

Is anyone familiar with this problem? I remember reading in another forum of the same thing happening to someone else who didn't have an axim but was running WM5. I'm pretty sure its not an hardware problem as the Ax works fine until I start installing lots of programs again.

Can anyone help?

Sounds like a Today plugin: can you list your applications and the order that you are installing them?

On the today screen I am using :

-> Windows Live Search

-> Windows Live

-> Skype

-> Pocket MSN

The problem occured before I installed the Windows Live plugins so I don't think they are the problem. I'm also running Wisbar Adavance 2 but this has never caused a problem.

I can't remember the order that I installed the programs on my pocket pc but these are the one's I have installed:

1). Wisbar Advance 2

2). Wisbar Advance Desktop [but i'm not using it at the moment]

3). Adobe Reader v2.0

4). Pocket e-sword

5). Olive Tree Bible Reader

6). Pocket Dict

7). MDict

8). Mobipocket Reader

9). Skype

10). Real One Player

11). TCMP Player

12). Haali Reader

13). Happy Tapping Keyboard

14). Dictionary Manager

15). Pocket Food Additives

16). mDigger Reader

17). Pocket Notepad

18). Pocket Player

19). PocketHTML.Net

20). Total Commander

21). WM5 New Menu

That's pretty much it. Apart from a few games I have which have never in the past caused trouble, everything else is either a database, ebook, video or mp3.

1st, I do not observe the problem you are seeing (although I only cradle my X51V at work ... at home I charge through the power adaptor)

I would recommend looking at all running applications BEFORE removing from the cradle ... START-SETTINGS-SYSTEM-MEMORY ... and stop applications before removing one at a time.

Maybe you'll find the culprit. (I suspect Activesync)

Good Luck ...

Hi KPDUTY.

I don't normaly leave apps running when I cradle the device because I know that if it crashes I will lose data so active sync would probably be the culprit if this is being caused by a running program. I did perform the fake server trick for activesync before to see if this was the problem but it hasn't made any difference.

Have you tried uninstalling the software you do not use? Especially those that contain today plugins. I have a similair problem and even though I don't have the todays running I have memory conflicts and realised that if I;m not using It I should uninstall it. Uninstall everything you do not use[make sure you have reg details at hand if you want to change setup later] and see if that frees you up a bit!

Hi Pedah.

I dont have anything installed that I don't use. I just uninstalled windows live and skype which are the only today plugins that I had that did not come with WM5 to see if that would solve the problem but the problem still persists. I did perform a soft reset as well prior to and after each uninstilation.

I'm lost on this.
