How do I put music and video on my axim?

I know it sounds stupid, but I can't get music and video on my axim. I put the cradle in the computer, I put the axim in the cradle. When I try to find my pda on media player to give it files, I can't find it, however, I can find it on 'My Computer'. I am not a technology person, so v. clear, simple instructions please. Many thanks.

Easy enough. To put video on your pocket pc, try this Fairuse tutorial or this SPB Mobile DVD.

To load music onto your pocket pc, I'll do a separate post.

I created a folder on my CF card 'My Music' first. Then copy and past the song folder on my PC to my CF card. This is assuming the files are mp3's. Works great. Video I handle like this. Created a folder on my CF card 'My Movies' first. Then copy the 'encoded' movie file made using PocketDivXEncoder (0.3.96) that is on my PC to my CF card. I use 'TCPMP' to watch the movies and Windows Media application on my X51V to listen to music.

To load muic onto your pocket pc, first, make sure your device is connected to Active Sync. Then press Explore.

Pressing Explore at the top right, opens up a file explorer of your pocket pc's contents. Just like mine below:

The next step is to double click on the "My Windows Mobile Device", the one that looks like a pocket pc. That will show you a window that looks like the one below:

My pocket pc only has one storage card. Yours may have a CF Card and an SD Card. Choose where you want your music. I will choose Storage Card, since that's my only realistic choice. So I will double click the Storage card folder to open it. You may choose either the CF or SD card folder, whichever has more space.

Make sure your Storage Card folder has a My Documents folder in it. If it doesn't, simply create one by right-clicking in the empty space, choose New Folder, then rename it to My Documents. This is where I prefer to put music. You can also have a folder called Music. It's all up to you. You are now ready to load music onto your pocket pc. Keep this folder open.

Now, open windows explorer, and navigate to where you keep your music files.

You can see that I keep my music in the My Music folder. Actually, these are just samples that came with my pc, that's why they are only 600kb. Most song files are 4000kb, or 4MB, long. To transfer them, just copy them from here, and paste them over to the open file on your pocket pc.

Shazam! Now you see they transferred from the desktop (top 1/2 of the screen capture above) to the pocket pc storage card. You can now play your music on Windows Media Player, TCPMP, GS Player, or your favorite player.

The pictures don't show up - I submitted this article with the pix as a tutorial. It should show up in the tutorial section soon.
