It REALLY sounds like a hardware issue, if it's killing both wired and wireless connections. Otherwise, try going without the router for a few days to see if the problem is your Internet connection and not the router. If it doesn't happen after removing the router, then you know that the router's on its way out.

it did it again last night but sometimes when that happens i jus directly connect it to the modem and everything works fine its not until after my internet session in which i connect the router

Do you have "dirty" power at your house? Power surges and low voltage drops can cause networking equiptment to act crazy. Lots of network switches\routers need to be reset after a power outage or surge. A fridge or big freezer can cause havoc when the compressor comes on, which creates a spike on the circuit.Try plugging it into your battery backup if it is plugged into the wall. Those cheap surge strps do very little to protect you from power problems. I used to work for a point of sale company, and bad power would cause all kinds of problems with the hubs and computers.

Same thing was happening to me a few weeks ago. Replaced router and all is fine.
