x51 screen cracked 29 days later....

Okay, so I bought it and 29 days later I dropped it. It bounced off of a metal bookshelf on it's way to a concrete floor. Boo. My warranty of course doesn't cover accidental damage and I got nowhere w/ Dell. So I just ordered a used x5 from eBay, but I'm afraid I just won't be happy. Does anyone know how cheaply I can replace my screen? Is it realistic to try buying a screen from eBay to it myself?? Are there any other places I could find one? Does anyone around here have one available? Yes, I need the whole deal, LCD and digitizer...I really did a number on it. It is still usable on my computer with Pocket Snapshot, so it's fully functional except for the screen. But if I wanted to sit at the computer, well, I wouldn't need a PDA.

Anyway, I'm getting long winded. Sorry, I'm just sooo frustrated. And a suggestion to all who read this....USE THE LANYARD HOOK!!!

I really feel your pain. I had a similar thing happen to me with an IPAQ a couple of years ago. I'm really sorry this happened to you. (I did eventually replace the screen myself).

Don't forget PPC Techs.

I'm a big believer in the magnesium hard case... I've dropped my Ax so many times... So much that I broke the case, but the Ax is still ticking

There is a vendor I saw yesterday on ebay that is selling a complete LCD+digitizer unit for the X50v/X51v series for around $70:
300157641004 and 200158955961.
I don't know them and have never done business with them. Always look at customer feedback and ask questions BEFORE buying anything on eBay.

I saw that eBay listing too. I was scared off by the 'V'. Mine is just a regular X51 and I was under the impression the V's have a different screen. But thanks! That is a good price!!

Is it Rhino that makes the magnesium case? Is it usable while in the case? That's kind of what I will need once I"m back up and running. I use mine w/ a CF scanner, so it's out, in my hand and vulnerable. Maybe I need some kind of hand strap, too.

Yeah, thank you, I've already looked into them. I will most likely go with them if I don't find an alternative.
