WiFi use = super battery drainage?

I have a 2200 battery but regardless of ROM used, when WiFi is ON and used for 5 minutes along with PIE or Opera then in those 5 minutes I lose about 10% of my battery charge!

Is that normal? Thats even with Power Saving Mode ENABLED (in fact, DISABLED does not drain more battery power...).

I can't talk about the exact percentage but Wi-Fi use does drain the battery a lot faster than say a connection over bluetooth. It's been that way for a long time and is normal.

WiFi does drain the battery very quickly. And, it has also been my experience that Power-Saving Mode does not have any effect on power drain.

I won't pretend to be an expert on battery discharge, but some observations!
With a standard battery I lose about 5 to 10% on battery monitor [SPB Pocket Plus] in 10 minutes from 100% in the morning.Browsing continually for about 4 hours gets me to around 15%. I don't think the battery meter is as accurate as we would like!! That said WiFi uses lot's of power

Ditto here, I think it's not "linear" in a sense that it tends to show battery drain rather quickly when its initially fully charged and then progressively slower. Wait until you only have 25% left & see how long it takes you to get there.

If you set the cpu to max or to minimum its not going to effect the battery drain that wifi causes because its related to other hardware draining power aswell as cpu.
