I agree with Davrol. I've seen this question before and never seen a way to do it.

XDA Developers has a cleaner utility that goes in the startup folder of your device here, but I've enclosed it for your convenience. Just drop the EXE into the \Windows\Startup folder with Explorer or something like Resco Explorer, and you should be good to go.:approve:
I also use Wisbar 3 like alantdc does, but startcleaner is free and won't eat up much, if any, memory at about 2K.

Does it auto clean it or clean it upon each soft reset?
Probably soft-reset, though in theory you could create a shortcut to it and run it as needed, or perhaps set up an app, one of those types that can run a program at a specific interval, to run the program periodically?

Another option is to delete from Windows\Start Menu\Programs the shortcut for any program you do not want to see in recent items. After doing this, you will have to access the program from File Explorer, Total Commander (free and much better than File Explorer), or a shortcut in a custom desktop you may be using.

I find this interesting in an odd way, as most people use third party launchers, and can customise their start menu on the today screen. It is customary and habitual to go start/ programs. start/ settings as it is the most like our PC, but that's what those third party launcher apps are trying to truncate. Lessen the steps it takes to get to your most used applications. There are about 7 apps I use all the time and they are pinned in SPB mobile shell. You get out of the habit of using the start menu.
