Aximsitewifiicon 16GB And 32GB SDHC Card For The X51v

Again this thread is not about which Rom is legal, illegal or unauthorized. We will discuss only about SDHC Cards any size. As long as you are not in violations of city, state or federal law, then you are NOT doing anything illegal or unauthorized. I don't believe their is any law against having a SDHC Card on your Axim. Nor is their any policy against discussing the SDHC Card on this web site to my knowledge. I love my 16GB SDHC Card on my X51v. I also love my Axim running with the power of superman (faster than a speeding bullet and able to leap over tall buildings in a single bound with machine like precision). We all know what it takes to run a 16GB SDHC CARD on the X51v, so we are not going there. If you have any positive input concerning the SDHC Card, please fell free to voice your opinion. Example...ect, some people might want to know where they can get the cheapest price on the 16GB SDHC Card or when will the 32GB SDHC Card go on sale.............ect!:approve:

16GB Patriot SDHC Class 6 for $199

I'm going to pick one up at Fry's Electronics here in San Diego for $199 for my x51v. Do you know if a class 6 works with your Axim?

I have a 4gb SD and a 8gb CF card set inserted into my X51V. I have been using this combination for the last 6 months and at this time I have 50% space left of each. They are used for Sbp backups, movies, pictures ebooks, 9 different versions of the bible, mp3s, pdf files and data files from my pc but not connected to my X51V use.

I don't think you'll see any benefit with the higher speed classes, except when writing to the SD card from the PC - the SD interface on the Axim's nothing special, and doesn't appear to write as fast as even a normal SD card reader would.

Will you be upgrading to the 16GB or 32GB SDHC Card? Think about it, suppose you had a 32GB SDHC and a 16GB CF Card running on X51v.

I am still on A12 on my X51V. As far as I know only a SD card will work not a SDHC card.

1000's of people have SDHC capabilities on their on their X51v with no bug spray needed and the number is growing day by day. A lot of people are waiting on the 32GB SDHC Card to come out before they go with full SDHC capabilities.

Hi,
it would be fine if someone could do a read and write speed benchmark with SDHC cards and SD cards. :)

You must purchase the WM5.0 upgrade package that Dell sold. Then after you have upgraded your pocket pc to WM5.0, you can search through this forum to find the thread that discussed the hacked WM5.0 ROM. This ROM was enhanced to improve performance and included some kind of driver update that enabled the Axim to recognize some (not all) SDHC cards.

Julie, The x51 was WM5 as shipped. It's the x50 that would need the upgrade package.

okay, thanks for the clarification.

I think this link provides a link to the ROM version for this model that supports a 4GB SDHC card.

Support for 4 GB SDHC on Axim X51v (WM5)
