Worried Memory error when replacing battery (x50v).

Hi folks. I'm having problem with my x50v when changing to my other battery. Whenever I do change I receive a "memory error". It's a new error, 'cause it didn't happen in the past. Anyway I first dissable all the applications that run on my today screen, then I softreset, turn off my device and change the battery. That process used to work for a while, but now it's not working and I did a Hard-Reset, but even after the Hard-Reset after a while when I turn it back on... there it is the "memory error" again.

Any advice will be greatly appreciate it.

Take off battery one hour. Drain off backup battery. Then make a hard reset or flash rom.

Ok. After I hard reset the error is gone. But my question is: What will I have to do next time I change my battery? What are the steps (if there are any) that I should take before changing the batteries?

Thanx

If your X50V still uses 2003SE, the issue should come from the dead of standby battery. When you change main batter, the device needs the standby battery to sustain the all data stored in RAM.

Hi,
I assume that if I upgrade to WM5, this memory error problem should be gone when I change batteries? Thanks.

You really don't have to worry about that error. It happens for a variety of reasons most related to some program that is running when you replace the battery. I used to get that all the time when the battery ran down too low before I charged it back up. And going to WM5 is probably more of a headache than resetting that error. Why not just keep your pda on the charger all the time when you are not using it and you won't have to worry about changing the battery that way. It isn't good for the Lion battery to let it run down anyway so it would also last longer if you keep it charging.

I second that. Keep your batteries charged as often as possible. I got the same error after months of inactivity then charging the battery to use my Ax again.

Everything you said it completely true, I will also stick with 2003se a05. I played a bit with 2005 and wm6, but sa I said 2003se is the most suitable for me and also dell achieves best performance. I own Dell Axim X50v.

I didn't know that about Lion battery, I'll keep in mind that :)

Your backup battery is dead, either you need to replace it (if you are technically minded and can find one) or plug the charging cable in while you swap batteries.

My business x50v had this problem but I ended up being issued a x50 as a replacement, x51v being out of production. I hate the screen and WM5 is no better (sometimes worse) then 2003se.
