Is it possible to mod this driver, so that in addition to recognizing an SDHC card as having a capacity of 8 or 16 GB, you have full read/write access to all 8 or 16 GB of the card?
Now THAT is a real bummer, not too many easy choices for full sdhc support
1) buy a new pda that has wm6 and sdhc support
2) install an illegal rom that supports sdhc support and that may for all anyone knows by hacked creating a security risk
3) install a legal later version rom or driver, that only supports up to 4gb
MS, I wish you'd make this easier. Personally I'd happily pay MS say $100 to get a WM6 upgrade.
4) buy the WM6 SDK, and cook your own rom using the WM6 SDHC driver. ;)

I currently have a 16gb Adata SDHC card in my X51V with access to the full amount of storage available on the card. It currently has 5.9gb of data stored onto it in the form of avis, pdfs, excel, word, jpgs, mp3s, backups of my system and files that are not connected with my Pocket PC. I also have a 16gb Adata CF card also installed giving me a total of 32gb of external storage. This is of course not possible with Dells current OS level of WM5 but it is with WM6 A03 OS.

Where can I find a copy of WM6 A03 then? I have a LOT of multimedia files, and I need an enormous amount of space to manage them all. Having a new OS would be a plus as well.

As WM6 is a hacked OS, I don't think this is a discussion permitted on this site. But you can easily find all the info you need by searching with Google...

This site does not support, allow or desire discussion on the topic of WM6, which is their right. I agree with dkimak, just do a google search and you will find the information your looking for. As a warning, just make sure you do your research prior to doing any ROM upgrade to your unit as this type of upgrade will void your warranty you may have with Dell and has the ability to brick your unit.
I read so many other threads of people using an SDHC 8 GB card and being able to use it successfully. I guess after reading the threads in this forum they probably didn’t load more than 4 GB of data on their SDHC 8 GB card. If they do, what I understand so far is that they can see all the files in the region between 4-8 GB, but if they actually tried to play/access them, they would not – is that correct?
This driver allows an SDHC card whether 4, 8 or 16 GB to be inserted into your Axim X51v A012 ROM (which is what I own) and have the full capacity of the card loaded with files directly from your PC, but you could only access the first 4 GB of data – is that correct?
If using ActiveSync, you would only be able to sync 4 GB of data files over to the Axim X51v, then you would not be able to sync any other files over the 4 GB limit. Files have to be copied to the SDHC card via a card reader on the PC if greater than 4 GB of data is to be loaded on to the card – is that correct?
If I want to increase my storage capacity on my Axim X51v, the best way of insuring I can access and play all data files on the storage cards would be to install an SD or SDHC card greater than 4 GB and add a CF Compact Flash card of say 8 GB or 16 GB and then both cards would show all the files and be able to access all the files on the cards directly from the Axim – is that correct?
I’m amazed on how many state that they installed an SDHC 8 GB card and it works great, giving the impression that 8 GB works flawlessly, when in reality the SDHC card really is not completely functional since you can’t access all the files on the card. Please elaborate on these questions above in case I’m missing something that I don’t understand.
Well, the 16gb shdc card I tried, worked fine up to about 4-6gb or so. Beyond that none of the video files I had would play in tcpmp, same problem with any other file types. I eventually just got the cf sdhc adaptor from Gigacity as noted in another thread here on aximsite, currently I have a 2gb sdcard and a 16gb in the cf sdhc adaptor. The only problem with the cf sdhc adaptor from Gigacity is that it has no lip to help you get it out of the cf slot. Luckily my Sharp Zaurus SL-5500's came with a sticker just for this problem.
Next plan is to get a 32gb sdhc card and hope that a legal version of WM6 will eventually be available for the X51v, so I could have 64gb on the X51v (32gb sdhc and 32gb cf).
