What's the symptom of, "cannot write to it?"
Error message?
Did you buy it new from a reputable brick/mortar store in the USA?
If not, there are other possibilities.
EBAY represents that MOST of the memory cards sold there are FAKE.
And if you buy one, what do you do with it? You resell it on Craigslist.
EVERY 4GB flash memory I've tried to buy off CL has been a fake.
Another common problem with used cards is that somebody filled
up the table for the root directory by trying to copy a zillion files there.
Says lots of free space, but when you write it, it's FULL.
Depending on which program you're
using on your Axim and how the settings are, you may not see the files
that are causing the problem.
Your options depend on your available hardware.
If you have a SDHC card reader, you can try to read it in a PC.
If you don't, you should get one.
ledshoppe.com/Product/com/CA2029.htm is about as cheap as they get.
Check for fakeness by filling it up with stuff...mp3's and videos work well
if you don't try to put them in the root directory.
Eject the SDHC card then put it back in to flush the OS cache.
Now, try to play back all the files. On a fake drive, the files will
show up in the directory, but many of them will be corrupt. Yes,
you have to play the whole thing, cause the corruption may not be at
the beginning. For big files, file compare works too.
It's essential to remove/replace the flash card or the OS
will just give you good data from the cache instead of the bad data
on the card.
Consider the formatting on the card. Some devices format
the card in a proprietary way that is incompatible with some
other devices. Cameras and mp3 players are famous for this.

claims that most formatters do it wrong and give you a tool
to format the card to standards compliance. Never tried it myself.
My 4GB PQI SDHC card is formatted FAT32 and works in my X51v.
