SDHC driver for original aku 2.3.1 ROM

I have read through the posts and keep seeing mention of WM5 and WM6. I have an Axim X50, ROM version A05 Windows Mobile 2003 SE Version 4.21.1088 ( build 14260.2.0.5 ). Is the driver on the first post capable of enabling SDHC 4 GB card? I am not sure what the reference to WM5 and WM6 is about. I have downloaded Pocketrar 380 and can see the program with Microsoft ActiveSync in My Documents on my PC, but cannot find My Documents while searching the Dell X50? I am new to this device and don't quite understand how it all works yet. Any advice on installing Pocketrar to unzip the SDHC driver would be appreciated. I found this site after a few hours of looking for info for this upgrade.

WM5 and WM 6 are newer Windows Mobile Operating Systems. WM 6 works well with the X51 series (WM 5 was originally full of bugs although they have probably been ironed out now). WM 6 is not Dell authorized but quite a lot of people are using it.

In my opinion neither WM 5 or WM 6 are really suitable for the X50v so I have stayed with WM 2003 SE. Several people who have tried WM 5 on their X50s have reverted back to 2005 SE which is fast, reliable and completely bug free.

But as Box says WM 2003 SE will not read SDHC cards. If you really need a 4 GB SD card Transcend cards are available from Newegg in the US or from memorybits.co.uk in the UK.

As you are new to the subject I strongly suggest that you read Gigi's excellent tutorials listed in Resources at the head of this page. "Installing, Running and Uninstalling software" is particularly useful and informative.

I tried a regular SD card and had an error message. I then did a hard reset and everything is back to normal and It recognized the SD card. Thanks for the info provided. I guess I will just use it and quit messing with it.

Hello! I'm sorry that I'm bumping a slghtly old thread but I feel like I gotta post.
Alot of you people here are claiming that the sdhc.cab is only allowing you to use a maximum of 4gb but none of you guys here have mentioned/posted the later updated driver from GreateVK and FreePK.

I know I'm not allowed to post url's but I'm kind of desperate here

I myself have an iPAQ RX1950 and I have not tested the driver as I do not own an SDHC card, I would really like to buy an 16GB SDHC card for it but I'm still not 100% sure that it will fully work. Hope you guys can test this driver out and that it works, alot of people in the other forum have said that by using this later driver they have been able to expand their memory further than just 4GB.

Unfortunately, I cannot test this driver because both my x50v and x51v are using WM6. That has native SDHC support.

From the looks of it, it doesn't even work on some other models of iPaq. So therefore, I would suspect that it wouldn't work on the Axim series.

The problem with it is that you have an iPaq. So even if us Axim users test it, we cannot verify that it works on an iPaq.

I've tested the cab file, and it seems to allow me to fully use my 16GB Kingston SDHC card on my Dell Axim X51v with rom A12.

Are you sure you can see/use all 16GB of the card? Past experience has shown you can only see the first 4GB.

I can confirm that it has allowed me to use all 16GB of my Sandisk Extreme II SDHC when I was using WM5 A12.
