Is there any way to use copy and paste to enter the WPA key? I use a very long key (63 random characters) on my network. My Axim seems to be the only device I have that does not allow me to copy and paste the key in (I can copy it from a text file, but the 'paste' command is grayed out when I go to enter the key.
I don't think it will work but a possible way is to open the on screen keyboard and use Ctrl+V (after using the copy function in the text file with the key).

I could do this with my windows mobile 2003 pocket pcs, but it is not possible on WM5.0 pocket pcs. This must be another thing that was removed for "security" reasons....... What makes it doubly hard is that as you manually key in your encryption code the characters are displayed as asterisks so, you really can not confirm that you've keyed all the characters in correctly.

How about trying the TenGo Free keyboard. I have this keyboard set as my default onscreen keyboard and it has a "paste" function built in. You just tap on the paste button to paste text.

with Window Mobile 5, you just have to enter the password manually.
Try not to use your Tengo Keyboard. It does a good job of remember what you've entered

I agree with this statement partially, but.... The Tengo keyboard will only add to its dictionary the words (or long passwords) typed when there is a space at the end (this is how the program determines if it is a word typed or just a bunch of plain old typing of letters). If you have never typed the password with a space at the end, then it won't suggest the "word"- at least in my experience using Tengo daily for the last couple of months. Another point relating to this is that if your PDA was stolen and someone actually got to the point to try and figure out the WPA password, they would have to at least start out with the first several letters of the password for Tengo to suggest it in the first place. This, of course, depends on whether it was stored in Tengo's memory in the first place. Soooo, this isn't much to be concerned about in my opinion. :) YMMV

Even worse on the iPhone, ugh. I use a huge 63 character key, mixed with letter, numbers, upper and lower case. I spent 1 hour entering the key 3 times into my iPhone, failed all 3 times. I've been dreading putting it into my X51v.
P.S. I ended up using a short key at home, but the long 63 key is at a different location, at which I can't control the key.

It's not free but Desktop Rover is great for this kind of stuff. A totally different approach allowing you to use your PC mouse and KB on your PPC. Of course you have to be connected to your PC but if you're getting the key from your router or AP you may be at your pc anyway. Rover is one of my "can't live without" programs.

Drives me nuts when someone makes reference to software and doesn't post the link. :) So, after some digging, here it is. Desktop Rover

Sorry about that. I guess I'm just to used to searching for what I need. I'll try to remember in the future.
It's really no big deal!! That's why I put the smiley in there. I guess I just figure if someone has gone to the trouble of posting in a forum, then why not also put a link in as well so it's easier for others to research, that's all.

I make up my own password instead of a random generator for the exact same reason. Just type out a long non-sense sentence, insert some # and symbols between each word, and mix up lower and uppercase, it's just as good and heck a lot easier to type.
