x50V: Battery life - Standby

Does anyone know how long the battery lasts on standby? Either extended or orginal battery would be fine to know. I want the calander and alarm to wake up on particular dates and times just like a PDA/cell phone, so I am thinking that leaving the PDA in standby is a good idea. What do you guys think? This would be much cheaper than buying any VGA windows mobile phone...

*bump*

And does anyone know how much battery life will a microdrive take out? Even in standby mode?

And will a 4gb microSD in a SD adapter work in a x50v?

I don't believe a micro-sd will work unless you are using WM5 with an SDHC type patch (sorry for being vague there). I believe the micro uses SDHC style addressing, someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

Microdrives will truly eat battery power, but only when actually using them, and they've gone down in popularity as larger flash CF cards have gotten cheaper. I'd stay away from MD if you can and stick to solid state flash memory as it is more resilient. Also stay away from ebay microdrives as there are a lot of drives that will not work with the Axim. In standby a microdrive will not use much power, if any, and a lot of media programs feature a "microdrive mode" which will buffer a large amount of data and allow the drive to spin down to conserve power...

As to how long the battery lasts, all I can say is that on my X51v (not a great comparison with an X50v...) I would likely get a good week or two on my extended battery just in standby. I get at least 10 hours of mp3 playing and book reading before I get down below 40% on my battery... 2200mAh extended battery btw...

Thanks a lot for the input. That helps. There are 4gb non-sdhc microSD cards. Will those work?
