New computer ... need to move my Axim 50v

I am sorry to ask this ... as I am sure it is posted somewhere. I have searched under new computer .. googled it ... and still not info. Can someone please tell me how to set up a new computer to accept my old Axim 50V. I have downloaded and installed Activesync 4.5 ... but not sure what to do from there. My old computer is still up and running so I can move files etc .. if that is what is required. Please make it simple so I don't mess it up ... I have already made one big mistake this week which made me go back to a backup a year ago ... so don't want to loose anymore data.
Thanks for your help...

Dave

Once you've installed AS, connect the cradle to a USB port, plug your Axim in and follow the instructions to create a partnership. You might have to open AS and select Get Connected under the file menu.

The sync manager is different with Vista vs. XP. I do not have Vista (not for at least another year) so can not advise you if Vista is your OS. If XP 'kcallahan's instructions are correct from my experience.

Good catch, I almost forgot about Vista. I believe Vista has its own sync program. I'd do a search for Vista on Aximsite and see what other PPL are doing.

More info needed

Thanks for the replies ... yes it is an XP system... too early to go to Vista yet in my mind. I failed to mention that I want to keep my existing partnership from my old system... is there something more I need to do other than just plug it in and go ... I thought I needed to transfer files etc... to my new computer ... to keep the partnership .. but I may be wrong. Please let me know.. thanks.

You don't need to transfer files. But, you'll need to setup the duplicate partnership with the second PC. I can't remember the exact steps, but, the AS installation wizard should walk you thru it.

BTW - If you're syncing Outlook on both PCs you'll get some questions about differences. IE Contacts, Appointments, etc
