Question HELP!!! Open Pocket Excel files on desktop (vista)

Hi All, This is my first post to the site and I apprecaite all of your comments.http://www.aximsite.com/boards/images/smilies/smile.gif
:)
I have just recently upgraded to vista and started using the new windows mobile device manager instead of activsync. I now find I cannot open my pocket excel files on my desktop (under documents\myfiles on pda) Excel does not recognize the file.
With activsync, the act of syncronizing also converted the file to an xls file. Is there some way that I can re-enable this conversion process or am I having to re-think my entire way of working?http://www.aximsite.com/boards/images/smilies/shrug.gif

Thanks,

Scott

Don't save your files as pocket Excel or pocket Word files. Save them as regular Excel or Word files and then you should be able to open them on your computer under Office 2007.

The only advantage of these pocket versions is that they are a smaller file size than the regular versions. If you are saving these files to a storage card, the size of the files probably is not that important.

How to set default

Thanks for that info Julie and quick as well:approve:.

Is there any way to set the default save option to be an xls file instead of a pxl?
Thanks again.

I have not found one at this point with just using the applications that come with my X51V.

No, I've never found a way to change the default save option to .xls or .doc files. I've looked for it, but never found it. It seems like it would be as simple as changing registry setting, but I'm not an expert when it comes to the registry.
