An appeal to those with bigger brains than mine.

Hi Guys,

I got have an Axim X51v, I would not be able to function without it. When I came across your site and realized there was a ROM update I jumped on it.

But I have no idea how to do a back up. My techy showed me last month but I have no idea what he did.

Can anyone help me out?

Any help would be great!

If you do not know how to do a simple data update then I would not try a ROM update. As far as a data update or total update of your unit (date, email, PIM stuff and OS) I use Spb Backup (purchased application) for both instances. AROM update replaces your entire units OS, email data, PIM date and any applications that came with your unit or you have added. It is a precise process (step by step) that is described on this site. The ROM file for revision A12 (the highest ROM level Dell released) can be found at the Dell web site. This particular ROM update fixed most if not all issues that were giving users of the X51V trouble from its first release. Prior to atempting this ROM update you need to make a complete backup of your X51V (so it can be reinstalled should you have issues with the ROM upgrade process), using Sbp Backup.

Also, if you do a ROM update, you will not be able to use your backup to restore your device if your backup also restores the system registry. When ROMs are updated often there are specific registry changes that accompany that ROM's changes. You do not want an old ROM's registry running on a new ROM.
