Updating ROM question...

This just came to mind.

If I do a hard reset, do I have to re-update the ROM to the latest version or is that one of those changes that stays regardless?

I ask because I did a hard reset, not exactly recently, and was wondering if this could be a reason if my Axim seems like it's going "slow" most of the time.

Just wondering.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Probably not. ROM updates write to the Pocket PC's ROM and permanently replaces the OS with the update. ROM updates survive factory resets.

No you can go to A12 in a single step. Just make sure you read the step by step instructions on the Dell site and on this site. Errors in doing a ROM upgrade can go wrong if not followed properly with the result a unit that will not function. Just follow the instructions as we all have and you should be fine. In addition there is a different ROM for a X51 and a X51V. Be sure and get the correct one as that can be an issue you do not want to get into.

I did A01 to A12 with no problem.
Just locked in the middle, did a hard reset and reflashed, all is good.

Now, if I could get it connected with my Exchange server again

Thanks
