How I fixed My Bricked X50
Disclaimer - By writing this I am in no way endorsing any type of illegal activity, this thread is only in place to try to help people recover their expensive bricked X50/X50v's. This is not a discussion of any illegal ROMs, I will not tell you how or where to get these ROMS. To get the solution I had to download several ROM's off the net, licensing for these should already be in place since you own the device and these are ROMS native OS software. I will not provide access to any type of illegal ROM so don’t even ask.
Background Info. - A month or so ago I tried to upgrade my X50 to a version of OS which was both unsupported and illegal, at the time I did not know it was illegal. I applied it just as the directions said but it bricked my X50, the only thing that I could do was get into the ROM update area. I tried almost everything I could do to get it work again, and was pretty convinced that it was absolutely dead.
What finally fixed it -
1) I had the original Images of the illegal OS, the NB0 file was named WM50_K_A02_X50V_****_EN.nb0 I took the "V" out so that it was name WM50_K_A02_X50_****_EN.nb0 and flashed it again. Once I did that it asked me to do a hard reset, which it had never done before, once I did that it did not reboot I did not see anything at all to make me think that it was still alive. But amazingly enough was still able to press the WIRELEES --> POWER --> RESET combo and it came up in the update rom section again. This time I noticed that the ROM had changed from A05 to A01.
2) I had downloaded the A05 version of WM2k3 (DiMa_B_A05_X50_WM2k3_ENG.nb0) so I flashed it with the A05 version of that which didn’t appear to do anything mainly because my ROM version was still A01.
3) I then flashed it with the OS file (DiMa_K_A05_X50_WM2k3_ENG_nb0.nb0) once it installed and did a HARD reboot as it requested; it started to come back up. It was really slow at first and I was tempted to do another hard reboot because it looked like it wasn’t working anymore. DO NOT DO THIS because it is working just VERY slow.
4) Flashed with AO5 update from Dell and it began to work fine.
If you have any questions or need the files, please let me know and I will make any info that I have freely available to you. As I said in the disclaimer I will not supply you with any illegal copies of software. You are on your own there.
Also if this fixes your problems please let me know. I would like to know that I have helped someone.
