X50v Completely stuck

I just purchased it used. It was working fine (about 3 days) until yesterday AM. I got a screen that said something about a memory issue and to press the button to repair. When I did, the blue Dell screen came on and the horizontal thermometer started to move. It stops a little more than 1/2 way through and freezes right there.
It does not respond to a soft reset.
When I do a hard reset, I get a screen that says: "To restore factory setting, press . To cancel this operation press . Note: All existing data is lost when you restore factory settings."
With whatever button I press, the screen goes blank and nothing else happens. I have to remove and replace the battery or hook up the charger to get the thing to come back on at all. When it does, I'm right back to the same memory scan or hard reset prompt.
I have left the battery out for hours. The lock button is not on. I have been though the above process at least 20 times with the same result.
Can anyone help?

I had the exact same problem occur about a month ago on my x50v. I got around the "reboot hang" by mashing the calendar, contacts, mail, home buttons while the device was rebooting. Hope that helps because not many people seem to have experienced this problem and I didn't find any solutions in the forums on this site.

Gosh, tell me about it! I'm having similar troubles with my X50V. My quick solution was to buy an X51V and update it to a stable ROM A12. Now I can tinker around with my x50v while still having an axim. I know what you mean about resetting doing nothing. At least you can get to the blue screen. Sometimes I can't.

guys try this take out the battery for a few hours while your doing something then put it back in if not try to take out any cards that you put in the unit. Or if you still have xp or you can use the SD image loader to up date the rom. Or even send it back to dell if you still have a warranty =]

What do you do when you can't get to the SD Loader screen? I press and hold Wireless + Power + Reset, but I get only a hard reset screen.
