Please remind me, ROM, hard reset, etc

We're getting a few x51v's slightly used. I've had mine for a while (A06) and never bothered upgrading to A12 since it seems fine the way it is. However, I've forgotten just about everything I knew about setting it up. I've never even done a hard reset.

So, on the new ones, how do I find out the Rom version? Once I know that, do I need to do the old ActiveSync trick if they're A12? How do I do a hard reset?

These are going to be used for a program I've written for my job, so I get them first and install my application, then give them to the users. I'd like to install a few of the free utilities. Is VBar still a good one? I never used it, I have some other Today thing; I don't even remember which one but I bought it. I guess TCPMP?

Any other suggestions?

start/settings/system info: will give you rom version info.

Hold power button down for a few seconds While pressing in the soft reset button.: will restore all (repeat all) settings to factory default.

Right, thanks. Now, the first one that I got is A12 so that's good. Anyone know if I need to do the ActiveSync trick?

Yes, that's what I meant. I think I'm going to use the opportunity posed by having spare Axims around to move mine to A12. Mine does have a constant problem of complaining that the door was opened. Dell once told me to do a hard reset to fix that but I never wanted to. So I have a case that really holds the battery door closed. Clearly it's a hardware problem but I figure I might as well go for A12 anyway.

I'm backing up all my data now (using the included backup software) and one that is safely installed on the new (used) one then I'll start looking into wiping out the old one. I'll have to locate my copy of Iguidance first. That I need.
