I upgraded with WM5 and that was the worst mistake as now my AXIM is bricked.

I was wondering how to get or create the nbo and crc files. When I look at the upgrade cd, it only has img files.

Then I will try the method in this thread.

Thanks for your help

how to define bricked?

I tried this:
If you bricked your X50(mid) with a WM5 rom trying to downgrade to WM2003 SE

Step 1: Your procedure is similiar to the updating 2003 SE rom one
Step 1a:Get os and bootloader rom image at Download AximX50_WM2k3_A05_EN.rar, upload your files and earn money.
Step 2: Extract files to any folder using Winrar
Step 3: Go to the folder where you extrated the files in the RAR archive
Step 4: Find the 4 files that have X50 in the filename (should be 1 (has a filename like DiMa_K_A05_X50_WM2k3_ENG) .nb0 file and (same naming conventions) 1 .crc file) and transfer them to the SD Card
Step 4a: Take the bootloader file and it's crc file (should be 1 (has a filename like DiMa_B_A05_X50_WM2k3_ENG) .nb0 file and (same naming conventions) 1 .crc file) and transfer them to the SD Card
Step 4b: Rename the bootloader file (on the SD card) from "DiMa_B_A05_X50_WM2k3_ENG.nb0" to "WM50_B_A05_X50_WM2k3_ENG.nb0"
Step 4c: Rename the bootloader crc file (on SD Card) from "DiMa_B_A05_X50_WM2k3_ENG_nb0.crc" to "WM50_B_A05_X50_WM2k3_ENG_nb0.crc"
Step 5: Take SD Card out of SD Card reader and put it in the axim
Step 6: Hold the power button and the wireless button at the same time, and quickly tap the soft reset button (little hole on back of axim near DELL logo and press it with something like a pencil or pen) 2 or 3 times
Step 6a: Watch screen for SD Card loader (should see the hard reset screen, but wait a few seconds until it shows up)
Step 7: choose the file "WM50_B_A05_X50_WM2k3_ENG.nb0" and follow any on-screen directions
Step 7a: repeat steps 6 and 6a
Step 7b: choose the file "DiMa_K_A05_X50_WM2k3_ENG.nb0" and follow any on-screen directions
Step 8: watch your axim come back to life and enjoy your axim

RESULT: device can not turn on anymore! what to do now?

I pressed those key combination, but the SD card loader never came up. The only thing that keeps coming up was the hard reset screen.

Press and keep on pressing. You hold Power+WiFi, then press and let go of the reset button (with your stylus). It can take a few seconds. Have you seen the video?

WM5 back to WM2003SE

If your unit is not bricked, but still (semi) works, DELL has actually supplied a way to get back to nice, stable 2003SE. I have had terrible experiences with WM5 and 6 - most frequently programs simply crash closed, losing the latest data input.

I'm going back to 2003SE, here:

Drivers and Downloads

Good luck, all.

My methods are only if you bricked your axim while flashing a rom and you can still access the SD Loader. Normally to go back to WM2003 SE, you would use the dell utility.

Sure - as stated in your title. I just thought I'd post the link here, since I had never seen it.

I tried your method with my x50v that was running wm5 a02. I installed as directed. everything seemed to go well but when it asks for hard reset nothing happens. I can still get to diagnostic and still get to bootloader. What am I doing wrong? these are the files that loaded.
WM50_B_A02_X50_WM5_ENG_nb0.crc
WM50_B_A02_X50_WM5_ENG.nb0
WM50_K_A02_X50_WM5_EN.nb0
WM50_K_A02_X50_WM5_EN_nb0.crc
Thanks for any help that you can give.

Hi....I bricked my X50 being stupid....I know I need to read before I do but I have a habit of rushing in and it always cost me!

You could downgrade back to WM2003 SE and trying to get back to WM5 A02. Did you look at ALL of my flashing solutions?
