Hullo there Steven, guys..
I'm quite desperate right now. My Axim x50 is tottally dead. Let me explain: I have it for about 2 years now, and when I bought it, it came originelly with wm2k3, and about 3 months later, Dell shipped a update CD with WM5 (it had just come out) and so I made the update succesfully, and had this WM5 vrs. A01 installed till this week.
Then, this past weekend I decided to update it, but I ended up bricking it by trying to force install WM6 MagLite's version for X50v (mine is x50[mid]). Well, as we all know, that would do the job. I was just so exited to do the update I didn't bother to read the threads.
Well, now my axim is tottally dead, I decided to read all posts and threads from all sorts of forums on the web, specially AximSite and xda-developers, and so I no longer consider myself a total noob, since I have read so much.
However, none of the intructions seem to do the job, because my Axim
won't load the SD bootload screen at all! And I am doing it correctly, pressing wireless+power+reset. I have done that before and it worked. I think somehow the unsuccesful instalation of wm6 must have corrupted something and is now impeding the device from eving bootloading...!
The only thing it does is turning the power led red when it's connecet to the battery charger, then it becomes green when it is full (as usual). Won't turn on though. If I try to turn it on, to reset, load that test (rec+power+reset), or load bootload, nothing works. The only time something happens is when its on the PC USB craddle:Then when I try to bootload, the power light flashes in red pretty fast, then goes off again and that's all.
Yesterday, it all of a sudden showed a screen saying I had a problem on the memory, and invited me to press I think Contacts in order to solve it by recalling the standard configuration, but after I did so, it died again.
I'm completely desperate cuz I really liked it, it was part of my life already after som many yrs, and plus in my country (that would be Brazil) such eletronic devices and simply unafordable (I bought mine when I was an exchange student in US on 06), so if I actually screwed it up tottaly, I'm pretty much gonna be aximless forevermore.
I'm sorry for the gigantic post. I'm just desperate and willing to follow any procedure for bringing my PDA back to life. I have the USB craddle if that helps, FAT32 SD, PC card reader, etc. If you guys could give me any help I would fully aprecciate..
And I fully endorse the words from the other members thanking you guys that are always trying to bring up something new for PDA lovers across the world, specially for us Axim users, forgotten now by Dell aparently..
Sorry for my possibly bad English! Thank you very much in advance.. I'm available for further explanations about my situation, if any of you is willing to help..
Cheers from Brazil!! Best regards to u all!
