Hi Kenneth.

thanks for the kind comments. It was fun. I just wish I could do a better job of compressing the video. I hope it helps someone with their unit.

That link will stay good. I will make sure of that.

Heres the link: http://video.google.com/googleplayer...84601489&hl=en

Enjoy watching. Just dont make the mistake of downloading it to your x50 and watching it while your taking the same axim apart.
"Okay i take the battery out and now what? Its just a blank screen. What do i do?" LOL!

Hi Spunker. Thanks for the help. Like I said, I'm slow with youtube and the like. I'm more old school.

Many thanks again for the help publishing that video to google.

Thanks for the video bernardm. I successfully took apart my axim so I could clean my screen and put a new screen protector on. Your video was my key to success! :) Thanks again!

Hi Palm. thanks for your nice comments. I'm thinking about borrowing a better vid camera to make a better video.

At any rate....I'm glad the details of the current video helped you take your axim apart.

Let me know if you have any other detailed questions about taking the axim apart.

I don't know if this video still gets any hits or views (it's kinda old), but I wanted to let everyone know that the file that sits on publicftp.com will come down in a week or so. It may go back after a short period of downtime, but the timeframe is impossible to estimate.

I hope I did this right.... it should be a link to google videos.

Hope the video helps out some people.

Do I have to unscrew the back with the t5 in order to change out the digitizer or can I just do this by popping off the silver metal front. My screen is cracked and I have the replacement part, but did not think that I needed the lcd portion of the screen.

That's a good question. The answer is 'yes'.

There is no 'popping off' anything regarding the shell. All the screws must come be removed from the backside. Then, use a fingernail, like the video shows, to separate the top and bottom shells.

Then, you just remove the 'innards', then the CF guide panel, then you can replace your digitizer.

Whole thing should take less than 30 minutes.

Great video, I've been thinking of cleaning my screen and replacing the screen protector thats on it now. One thing I was wondering though is if there are any tips on how to fix/repair the cradle. For some reason my cradle quit working. It started out that it would work sometimes and not others but it quit working all together now. Turns out the connector in the dock was loose, tried to reconnect it, but the soldier joints are so tiny I don't really have a way to re attach them. It's not a big problem because I have an adaptor that works to keep it charged, it would just be handy sometimes to have the dock working again. Again great video! :)

I believe that the headphone jack is soldered on. So you would have to be comfortable with that. It's directly connected to the main board.

I think I'd rather send it to ppc tech.

Or, go ahead and take the shell apart so you get a close look. It may be easier than I speculate.

Dell really screwed up when they bought into that design for the cradle. I mean, don't they know that people are going to connect and disconnect many times per week? Such an accessory deserves better engineering in my opinion.

I have trashed so many cradles, it's not even funny.

Anyway, I think your best bet is a travel charger that allows you to sync via a plug - rather than a cradle.

Or, buy a bluetooth adapter for your PC. That would almost be a better investment since it would have multiple uses.

I don't think you should try fixing it yourself considering you don't even read the threads you post in, how would you then ever be able to follow instructions.
