Does the I/O light change to an illuminated state when you connect the A/C adapter to the device?

I just switched the Axim on and the power information said that the backup battery was "normal" and there was 80% life in the main battery (considering I charged the main battery on the cradle, I guess that's why - it wasn't charged with just the Axim sitting on the cradle). This definitely makes me think that as this is the same when it's in the car charger cradle, that something has happened to the connector pins on the Axim itself....can these be repaired??

Many thanks.
I have the exact same problem as you. :(

I am 100% certain that it is a loose / faulty connection within the charge/activesync connector on the bottom of my X50V.

I have tried several different adapters and cradles with my X50V (which I know are all working fine), and they all had trouble getting the X50V power button to light up (orange/green).

The X50V charging light comes on intermittently when I jiggle these adapters while they are plugged into the X50V bottom connector.

Sometimes I can get the adapter to maintain a solid charging light ... and other times I can't. I just have to continue moving and jiggling the adapter until it finds just the right position to get the charge light to go on, and then hope it remains on.

I read somewhere that many people who use their X50V with a Compact Flash GPS adapter have experienced this bottom connector breaking, which I believe was the case with mine. I purchased mine used, and the previous owner used it with a CF GPS.

I guess if the X50V is held sideways (landscape mode) and has a charging adapter plugged in to charge it, the sideways pull of the charging adapter might cause the bottom connector to break or detach from the motherboard.

Bernard .... if you are still reading this thread, do you have any idea how difficult it would be to replace or fix this bottom connector myself?

I watched your entire video (which was great :approve:), but I couldn't tell how this bottom connector is attached to the motherboard?

I know PPC Techs will do it for $60 + shipping, but if I could replace it myself, I'd rather go that route.

Thanks for your help !!! :)

The connector itself is probably fine, just came off of the board. If you are good with a soldering iron you should be able to touch the pins and re-melt the solder. Put a bit of glue on the connector to hold it down and it should work. I haven't tried this on the internal connector, but my dock connector broke and I had to fix it by re-melting the solder and gluing the connector in place. It works fine now.

Same thing goes for the headphone jack, mine was cutting out on the right speaker so (after a long period of trying to fix the port itself which I thought was the problem) I soldered the connector and it works fine now.

Most ppl are finding it's the connector itself. You can try touch soldering the connector at the board, but, if that doesn't work, the connector will need to be replaced. For %60 it's worth it to have PPC Techs do the work. :)

Thanks for the responses! :)

Once I have my X50v apart, I'll see if I can determine myself if the connector is loose or broken

Then I can decide if it's something I can repair myself, or will need to have PPC Techs do.

Right now, I still need to obtain a T5 wrench to remove the screws in the back.

Do you have a Harbor Freight near by? They have T5 bits as well as several kits with the bits included.

Ive got some jewelers/glasses flathead screwdrivers that I use instead of a T5, just go to your basement and try to use some of the smaller ones it might work lol.

I have the same problem. The sync connector on my Axim is broken, and only works if it's in a specific position. My Axim won't turn on, even after leaving it plugged in until the power light turned green. I'm using a charging cable, not the original charger. When I plug it in to the Axim without the battery, the screen turns on. So I'm thinking it's a battery problem, but I'm not sure. If anyone has any ideas, that would be great. Also, I only have sporadic dial-up access, so I can't get the video. If someone could post stills, I'd be greatly appreciative.
