Mirror code is support in the ROM to output a mirror image of what is on the screen to the VGA out option that both the X50/51V have built in.

Thanks for the explanation. But if a map is in mirror mode, then I'll want to turn left when I should turn right? What is the purpose of mirror mode in gps?

My understanding and usage of mirror mode has been that you are not "mirroring" the image in the sense you are flipping it, rather the display is cloned so that what you see on the pda screen also appears on the VGA out.

Typical application to this would be a carputer (car based computer). Say you have those screens in the back of your seats for the rear seat passengers, they could see what is going on, (no more are we there yet?).

Mirror mode is like laptop/notebook computers VGA output to drive an external monitor.

Axim X50v and X51v are able to do that thanks to its internal graphics accelerator chip Intel 2700G. They are not only able to drive an external monitor but also to do that at resolutions up to 1280x1024 without decreasing performance.

There is only an small limitation: if you do not want to loose performance you need to turn off PDA screen while playing “mirror mode”, it is done by pressing REC + POWER buttons at a time. Then you can play a movie over your desktop monitor without limitations!.

There is no other PDA in town able to do that, just Axims “v” series.

Some programs with high resolution graphics like some games and navigators (ie: TomTom and iGo) does not behave properly in mirror mode. It is because they skip some parts of Operating System Windowing Manager to get some graphics improvement.

All TomTom versions behave slower in landscape and never work in landscape + mirror mode.

But there is an “unofficial” version 6.203 that works perfect in landscape and landscape+mirrormode: That's what Danshi reported.

Where might one find this 'unofficial' version? I still have 6.010, which is what came on the DVD I believe. Every time I sync my PDA, TomTom Home tells me there's no updates. Is 6.203 available somewhere on the TT web site, or is this a 'warez' version?
