After losing my X5, I bought an X51v. I just got it today and checked it out. It has ROM Version A01 on it. Just a quick question. Does any think there will be a problem updating the ROM to A12 in one shot? I don't thnk there will be, but I thought I'd ask here before attemping, just in case.

yea as long as u follow the directions onscreen u shouldn't have any problems ,however if u aren't satisfied with that u can upgrade beyond that to Rom M17 and if that's not enough u can go farther.
There's an old thread around here with very good detailed instructions about upgrading to A12. I'd find it and follow it closely - I did when I upgraded my X51v to A12.

I'm also going to jack my own thread to ask something about syncing the unit. I never had two computers that I use regularly before. Can I sync to two computers or jus one of them? I'll go searching now but if you would like to answer I would appreciate it.
M17 has worked well for me. I have had less problems with M17 than I had with A12. My wife has stuck with A12. She mainly uses the built in software and finds no reason to upgrade. I use lots of add on programs and M17 seems to do better with the larger load. It is much faster. I have also used the other ROMs that are not to be discussed. I like M17 best because the password works correctly in M17.

You can sync to 2 computers. The only exception to this is email, which can only be synced to 1 computer.
I have an Axim x51 with ROM A05....i tried to upgrade to A06, that failed, then tried to upgrade to A12..that failed as well......but then I realized I didn't need to upgrade...always remember the old quote "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
No, it cannot. It is illegal. It is not official. Links to it will be deleted.
The discussions above were marginal on whether they could be allowed but I removed them just to avoid problems.

Yes, I have seen the policy but I wasn't thinking 'clearly' as to what M17 is. You're right of course that it is just an improved version of WM5 so I'll reverse the deletions.
