Having trouble updating ROM?

Whenever I try to update, it tells me, 'AximUpdate' is not a valid Pocket PC application? Any help is appreciated, I'm just frustrated, I've tried several of times.

Welcome to MobilitySite/Aximsite!

You'll run the update from your computer, so place the update on your computer (not your pocket pc). Then cradle your pocket pc. Select the update and an installation wizard will open up and prompt you through the update. The pocket pc will be updated through your ActiveSync connection. Make sure you're using an XP computer.

You need to install the update from an XP machine. I don't think it will work on a Vista machine at all.

I hate to break in on another post, but I am trying to find some information on whether I need to update my WM5 - or if that's even possible.

I just purchased a lightly used Axim x51 for my better half. All seemed well, it started up fine after I did a factory reset (rear reset button + front power button). I loaded Zondervan's mobile Bible on it and it worked fine - the first time.

Subsequent attempts were frustrating:

1. Several times I had to stylus the rear reset button just to get the x51 to boot.
2. When I did get the x51 restarted, the Bible software would open but only show 1 or 2 verses from a chapter instead of the whole chapter.

I'm communicating with Zondervan/Laridian/MDM to figure out if the version I have is even compatible with WM5 - I have an x30 running WM2003 2nd edition and it (the Bible software) works fine.

Still and all, my main question is whether there are updates, service packs, patches or other things I should be updating the x51 with - and if so, where can I find them.

Sorry for the stream of consciousness but I'm trying to provide as much info as possible so you're not left wondering, "Where is he going with this?"

I do not have an Axim, so I am not so familiar with the updates that are available for the x51. Updates for the x51 can be found on Dell's website:

I can only point you to the website, but really cannot provide much advise regarding the updates there. Reviewing the x51 forum and posting a question there might yield better information about specific updates you might need to install.

What you describe sounds like a conflict with your Zondervan application. You could try deleting the application and then see if you still have such problems. If the problems go away, then it's probably safe to assume that the Zondervan application is what caused the issue.

It sounds like the Zondervan application may require quite a bit of memory to run. Have you installed the application to a memory card or to main memory? There are other bible applications that you could try which might work better.

I found two patches for WM5 on Dell's website. Install worked fine - I'm good at following directions :approve:

I've bounced back and forth between Zondervan, MDM, and Laridian - all of whom had a hand in developing the software - trying to get that issue resolved. Laridian is supposed to be sending me some updated files so my version of the Bible software will be compatible with WM5.
