X51v turns on when charging.

I have just sync cable which supplies 5v from the usb to pin 21 of the Axim connector. If I shut the unit off at will start charging which os fine with me as I only use this cable to connect ot my laptop so I can load a program. It also allows me to charge when no tin use which is a plus "just in case." The problem I have is that when I shut it off, it turns itself back on in 5 minutes. I did the little active sync trick to change sync to manual, but it still turns itself back on. Did I miss something? Can I get this to stop that?

Thanks,

The trick you refer to having done-is that the FAKE SERVER trick?
If not you should do that also as it sounds like you have all
the bases covered.

Yes, it was the fake server trick that I referred to. It's a little annoying. I hope someone knows why it does this.

I was hoping to avoid that as it would be one more thing that has to lugged around with me.

It must be determined by where the 5v is going to. If the voltage is on pin 21, the unit senses this and does the scheduled update as if it were on. Maybe, if I put a switch on the power lead to switch from pin 21 to pins 1-4, I could switch back and forth as I needed. I'm not sure about this though. Anyone? Also, does anyone have a dell travel sync cable? Does it turn back on 5 minutes after you turn it off to charge?

Try disabling Active sync on the PC. There is a utility called something like Activesync toggle that might help.

Found it Here

Once Active Sync has loaded to sync after you have plugged in the cable, go into settings/memory, or whatever app you use to allow you to see programs running, and kill the active sync task. It should remain off after that unless you unplug and replug the cable, or manually load it.

I don't really know of a way to disable Active Sync from loading on it's own when you first plug in the cable or stick it in the cradle, but have another look at the server trick because I remember a setting that caught my eye when I did it a couple of weeks ago, and it had me wondering if that would keep it from loading at all unless I did it myself.

Good luck!

One other thing you can do is check under Settings-->Power Settings and set the power button to turn the Axim off after you hold it down for 5 seconds. You should see a dialog asking if you want to turn off your Axim when you set the power button to do this and in fact press it down for 5 seconds or so. This will of course completely power down your Axim so any temporary program data in memory will be lost. But by golly it won't turn on again until you do it yourself.
