Media Synchronization Woes
I bought a 16GB CF card for my X51v so I could hold my entire music collection on it, which is currently only 6GB. I use Windows Meida Player 11 as my desktop media player, with the Napster plugin to download subscribtion content. My collection is a mix of unprotected ripped music and subscription content. I set up WMP to automatically sync my library with the CF Card in the Axim. Here's the problem. Every time it tries to sync, it gets about 10 or 15 percent done, and then just quits. Sometimes it will hang while trying to sync a file, and the status still says Syncronizing. Other times, the Sync will actually stop, and the Stop Sync button turns back to a Start Sync button. In either case, the only way I can resume sync is disconnecting and reconnecting the Axim. WMP will continue to sync where it left off.
So, it seems as if there is an issue with syncing a large number of files in one session. It's as if either WMP or the Axim can only handle a certain amount. Anyone else experience this or know what's going on? Is there any way to correct this? Not sure if it makes a difference, but I'm using ActiveSync 4.5. (No, I'm not syncing Media in ActiveSync, just thought I'd throw out the version number in case it made any difference.)
I imagine once I finally get all my files synced via this very long and very anoying process of disconnecting and reconnecting, then once I make small changes to my library they should sync without issue. But this initial sync is beginning to get very agravating!
