Aximsitex50icon USB Sync Port - can it be used for other things?

Can anyone tell me more about the USB connection that is used for syncing & recharging ?
Can a usb device be plugged into the Axim at the bottom connector where it would plug into the cradle connector?
I mean can some kind of adapter be made to plug in USB devices or sound in/out at that bottom connector of the PDA? Like an Ipod does?
What are the pinouts at that connector & can they be utilized any way other than for activesync & charging?

The USB connector i the bottum has a limited usage, because it is not a "host" adaptor. That means, that you can not connect keyboards, mouses ... If you want to di that, you need a USB host adaptor - I know of one, which plugs into the Axim as a CF cad, se here: RATOC Systems International,Inc : USB1.1 Host Adapter CF Card CFU2U

Otherwise the connector in the bottum includes a serial interface, which you can use for connecting a GPS receiver.

The pin layout for the connector is described here: Dell Axim X50 USB Sync and charging cable pinout and signals @ pinouts.ru

Be aware, that the VGA signals is only on the x50v and x51v models.
