Confusing! Blutooth x51v WM5 ROM a06

Hello- I thought I would get updated to the 20th century, and use the bluetooth on my x51v to syn with my home computer. So, I got a dongle (azio btd603) for my home computer. How naive. I thought that when Dell sold me this, and it said "Bluetooth," that I would be able to connect the axim with another bluetooth device. Foolish me. Now, I just read SOME of the Widcomm sticky - obviously, the issue is more complex than turnign on the two devices, having them be within a reasonable proximity, and having one seek out the other. What was I thinking!!!

What is a straightforward way to get Bluetooth working on this $300 paperweight? The sticky has hundreds of posts, and I am not going to read them all and sort out x51v from x50, ROM A06 from other ROM, etc.

Is there a good guide here or elsewhere? will I just need to follow the instructions from the first post in that sticky? If I achieve this, I am willing to make a donation to the cause. [and for sure never get a Dell PDA again. Wait, they have dropped the PDA business without my input.] -Row1

It is possible that the dongle you bought is at fault and not the Axim.
However,
Are you just trying to connect to the computer so you can use Active sync?
If so, Turn on the BT on the Ax and make it discoverable, turn on the BT on the PC and make it discoverable.
Search for the PC from the Ax and follow the instructions to create a partnership.
Or search for the Ax from the PC and create a partnership.
If the services offered in the Ax settings don't include active sync, then you either have a problem with the dongle or it may be that you need to upgrade the Axim to the Rom A12.
Active sync then has a few other problems that may or may not show up with your setup.
If you are only trying to send files back and forth between the two, use the beam function and make sure you have set beam to accept all incoming beams.
Apart from that, an explanation of what your actual problems are might help someone answer your questions.

while BT works well once it is set up it isn't Dells or your dongles fault that it is confusing. It just is. Box's explanation is pretty good but even that is a little confusing. Take your time to read the instructions and don't worry too much about all the posts after that for now. Most of the instructions are not going to be different between the different pda's unless it concerns the location in the software were some selection has to be made. Also it will be a little different depending on the OS on the PC. I wish it were more plug and play because more people would use it and more devices would come out then. It really is a good way to communicate since it is pretty secure. Try that and post back someone will try to help you.

You might also do the ROM upgrade to A12 from Dell. It resolved most if not all of the issues that the original ROMs had with the X51V.

I had in install & uninstall the software for my dongle several times before I was able to get it to. I also had to go through the configuration multiple times. Its not an easy endeavorer.
